water coming out of bolt hole
Guys I have a water dripping out of one of the bolt holes that holds the ac bracket onto the motor. It looks like someone put a bolt that was a little to long in it. I still have the engine on a stand. Will it be ok like this? I just got this motor from soshin two weeks ago.
Puff some baby powder on the block to see where the wet spot is coming from, sometimes the color of the motor or the glare of the lighting in the room will not allow you to see very well. If it was a long bolt then seal a normal bolt into the hole, it will only be pressurized to about 15 PSI, if the block ends up being cracked, well...............
May I ask for info on your motor that you just purchased, what is it, what came with it, price, shipping, I am going to start shipping direct from Japan next month.

The water is defiantly coming out from the one bolt hole. I looked inside and cannot see a crack. I was told the motor compression was between 175 and 180 per cylinder. The motor is a zc dohc that I paid 575 for plus shipping.
the reason I dont think its a block/thread isssue is that the block casting makes a big bump around those bolts, making them fairly strong
you would snap the bolt or kill the threads of the hole before cracking yourway through

thanks, yeah the threads look good. What would you suggest I do?

do what was mentioned above man
Clean the crap off the block, and start inspecting.
baby powder is an excellent idea, I never thought of it.
actually, any white powder should work.
Ahh, another use for coke!

if the crack was inside the motor, what the hell would it be leaking externally?
you make no sense dude.
is it possible the AC compressor is leaking, and its spraying the block behind it while its running?
I would imagine that might cause strange moisture results lol
EDIT
IF the motor made 175-180 compression, its not a headgasket problem

are you leaking coolant?
I still dont think its a block leak, as you would be spraying coolant out that hole when teh car is running. the water system is pressurized, and even a tiny pin hole would drain the radiator within an hour of driving

If driving with a bolt in the boss, it wont spray out in an hour, it sounds like you have a cracked (hole) in the boss area, call the folks you got it from and explain this to them and ask politely for an exchange please. With shipping at their expense.
Did you get anything with the motor like the harness and ECM for that price. Was the tranny still attached too.

I called them and they acted all annoyed. I told them what the problem was and they said they never heard of such a problem and double check it. They will give me a refund though. I would exchange it also but they said the motors are hard to come by. I also spoke to a Honda mechanic and he said I should be ok with Honda bond on the bolt and I could run engine sealant also.
The motor came with a distributor and a power steering pump, no Trans or alternator.
Hard to come by, wow, you got the last one, strange, they will give you a refund, you ship it back, they seal the hole, sell it to the next fool with a known, hidden, problem. Who is going to pay for shipping back to them and are they going to refund the shipping to you the first time around.
Thanks for the info on the pricing, I need to fill a box with these hard to find engines and send them to the states, wow.
