Help my Accord last to 200k
Hope I don't get flamed for a simple question.
I own a 2000 Accord Ex V6, bought it with 88k mls in 2008 and now its at 114k. I am the second owner, the first guy bought it and only drove it to work daily and then parked it in the garage, no one had ever sat in the back seat! Basically it was as clean as you can find other than some light hail dents on the roof. I want this car to last me a long time, and break the 200k mls barrier still running strong. I'd appreciate any tips on keeping it in great condition.
I change the oil regularly, have had my 90k mile service, put in a new alternator and other things. Always used OEM Honda parts. Any suggestions are welcome. Two things I need to do soon are new tires and windshield wipers, any recommendations?

Keep up with the maintenance, sounds like you are so keep doing what you are already doing....four of the five Hondas I own are over the 200K mark. Highest at 360K
This is no joke about the transmission fluid. I have 360K on my accord and the only issues that I have ever had (other than a hose or sensor here or there) is the transmission.
I change 2.5Q ever time that I change oil (5000-7500K) - your volume will vary since mine is a 1992.
I am not sure about your specific year, but for many others there is a bolt on the bottom of the transaxle, near the drivers side wheel, that takes a 3/8" drive ratchet. Just take it out and let it drain. Not all of the fuild will drain out, rather a little less than half around 2.5 to 3Q depending on your year and model - this is OK, just fill it back up with the correct amount (check your manual and dipstick). The end of the drain bolt is magnetic - see if there are any shavings or other debris on that magnet. It is pretty normal for some amount of stuff to be on there, but is should be very fine, powderlike residue. If there are shavings or chunks of stuff, then save your money for a new transmission some day. You can refill through the tranny dipstick hole. There is no filter. It is an easy job. I would recommend Honda Z1 ATF, Castrol Z1 or Mobil 1 Synthetic. You can also probably use cheap Dex/Merc (again, check your manual), but it really does not do as good of a job. The synthetic will have a firmer shift, but firmer shifts are usually less wear on a tranny.
I also do a seafoam treatment on the upper valve train about once a year and it really seems to help performance and gas mileage. It seems to make the car run like it has 100K less miles on it.
Other than that, the weather stripping started to really wear out on me about 150-200K. I would use some armor-all, or something, and go over all of the door and window weatherstrips to keep that car as quiet as possible.

I have an 01 EX V6 and had the tranny rebuilt at ~145k.
Keeping the fluid fresh will help it last longer but these transmissions are admittedly (by Honda) weak. The OEM spec for drain/refill of the fluid is 30k. I would cut that in half.

the transmission fluids in any car should be changed every 30k but to make it last long 20 k. and use non-synthetic because transmissions use friction clutches and the synthetic causes a little slippage to occur...unless your a manual. run the motor with a good synthetic fluid like castrol edge or mobil 1...it pays off to use the xtra $. run those chevron fuel injectors cleaner every 1k miles. if the fuel filter needs replacing do that as well.
