Default Si /rant

Just curious why people consider the following to be "Si" equipment....

'99-'00 Front End
'99-'00 Tail lights
OEM high spoiler

The only difference in the front end is the grill and lip all the rest is the same (tail lights, high spoiler, etc.)

Sorry, it just erks me when I see threads that say the car has Si tail lights and spoiler and front end... blah blah blah...

ha ha, you are right, everybody refers to the Si, as if it was the only model to have certain parts or options, that most other civic's came with or had available also

The "Si front lip" is optional for all '99-'00 Civic coupes (and fits other '99-'00 Civic front ends). It was standard on '99-'00 EK4 hatches and sedans overseas, as well as the '99-'00 EK9 hatch. Many cars had it as an optional lip though. Same lip, just optional instead of standard.

Oh, and grille and irks.

Not thread crapping here... just saying...

My ride is half '98 HX and half '99 Si -- the best parts of each.

How would one describe that, so as not to offend beta males?!?!?

HX with non-HX engine, axles, tranny, front-end, tails, et cetera?

Complete Si swap in a non-Si shell?

What difference does it make, drunk-blogging aside?

Because the Si was produced in 99-00 for the 6th gen civics.

I have noticed that when people are selling tail lights or something. they all say 99-00 si. What i have noitced in some cases people just think these sorts of things were only alviable in SI'S, or what Arthas said.

But my car has 99-00 tail lighs, i like them more then 96-98, I like the 99-00 climate control also just not enough to switch over to it. And i would never swap my front end for 99-00.

The only think swapping your front end gives is the ability for different fogs and the headlights are a little more aggressive; however, I"m not one to talk mine came that way, ha ha.

That doesn't really make sense. If your engine only came in one trim in the US, then by all means, say what it's from. Your front end was on all '99-'00 Civics though. You might have an Si grille, but you don't have fenders that were special for the Si or anything.

So you have a 1998 HX with an Si engine, axles and tranny and a '99-'00 front end and '99-'00 taillights.

But they're not the only Civics made for '99-'00.

Kinda looks like a '99 Si front-end, to me... not a '98 HX!

But an Si grille and Type R style front lip do not an Si front end make.

I get what you're going for, but it's still not an Si front end just because of those items.

LoL! True!

But, it's still a HX with a Si front-end...

It came off of a Si. What should it be called?

The way I see it is there is nothing unique about the parts even if they came off an Si. It's just like if someone said they have a Type R rear bumper.

So you have a B16A2 in yer HX?

I would describe it as a '98 HX with '99-'00 front end conversion and tail lights, '99-'00 Si grill and front lip and a B16...

I had a buddy that just bought a Civ and he's new to the game and said it had Si tail lights on it and I didn't hesitate to correct him that they weren't Si tail lights, they were just fron '99-'00 year models.

for the same reason people post that they have an itr valve cover, usdm itr bumpers, tails, etc. it sounds cooler to the fanboi's and those who have no clue will try to justify the high price of these parts.

I saw a '97 Civic for sale on this site earlier that reminded me of this thread. It has a '98 Civic Type R front bumper and lip.
