it's correctly installed, everything's hooked up properly, no missing wires. everything seems to be in the right place.
and the cap & rotor have been replaced.

the motor turns, but will not fire up. it's just the ole "ch ch ch ch ch ch". then the smell of fuel. not a single plug is getting spark. i'm changing the wires first thing tomorrow morning, but i doubt all 4 have gone bad...

did you replace the entire distributor or just the cap and rotor?
i had a similar problem like this once and it was the ignitor that i had to replace.

ok..u should have 4 major grounds
1.valve cover
2.tranny
3.starter
4.wire harness
if thats all there.. make sure u are getting signal from ur ecu. (hope it doesnt have the immobilizer on it)
then check ur timing.. if the timing is off by just a little. it wont start.. my car sat for 2 months.. after fixing al the other stuff. i finally figured it was the timing.. and since u replaced ur distributor, make sure u got the spark plug wires in the right order.. and that chilton manual may be wrong.. mine was.. try all that. good luck

Actually there is a fourth..its on the ECT sensor...right on/near the thermostat housing. Just pull a plug wire off the cap and wind it..if u are getting spark there, then you know its a plug/wire issue. If you are gettng no spark at the distributor, it could be a lot of things. If you have a voltmeter, start checking voltage inside the actual distributor(ICM, coil, etc) and even try swapping distributors with a friend if possible(make sure its the same year range..i.e. obd1, or obd2). Hell, even try a ECU if possible. The distributor and ECU are usually the two major things why they dont crank(assuming everything is wired correctly). If those dont work, then make sure to check all harnesses and wires and see if something is cut or loosing current. Good luck dude..it sucks having the motor in and having the car not start.......

EDIT...great point about the wire order..same thing happened to my buds gsr.
order looks like this..if you are on the passenger sideof the car looking at the dist.

3 4
1 2

And if they are honda wires they are numbered and the number one will probably have a painted dot on the end of the wire...good luck.
