Default Need a good sticky drag radial for the streets

I am looking at the Mickey Thompson ET Street Radial II.
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s.../50R15&type=SS

Would these be good for a car putting out about 500hp?

I used the BFG drag radials in the past and wasnt too impressed.

The two sizes that I am debating are 205/50/15 and 225/50/15. They will go on a 15x7 rim. I know that I can fit both on my car with no problem as well.

With the 225/50/15 setup, will I actual be putting down more rubber to the ground although the rim is only a 15x7 rim?

Thanks

No. The size of the contact patch - the area in which the tires are in contact with the ground - depends only on the weight of the car and the air pressure in the tires. So, for example, a 2640-pound car with the tires inflated to 33 pounds per square inch will have contact patches totalling 2640/33 = 80 square inches, regardless of whether the tires are really skinny or extra wide. (However, the shape of the contact patch will be different, which is why wider tires are slightly better for cornering.)

This is why drag racers use very low air pressures at the dragstrip - to increase the size of the contact patch.
