Default shifting after redline

On a ls the fuel cut off is around 7000rpm if i have basic boltons and a chip that advances my timing ,adds more fuel and raises the cut off to 8200rpm should i pass my redline to shift and be at higher rpm in the next gear and if so should i go all the way to 8200rpm

Stock engine redline is there for a reason. If you dont modify your engine to handle the higher revs, then it wont. Adding fuel and advancing timing does not allow your engine to rev higher.

Try it. Then you will have an excuse to get an ARRR motor!

ummm, stock valvetrain? I wouldn't. But just to see what happens for giggles, go ahead.

Hahahaha. Do you really think you will go faster if you shift at 8200 instead of 7000 rpm????

The fuel cutoff is actualy 7200, but i wouldn't shift any higher than 7000

Stock cams, you will go slower if you shift that high. Not to mention the damage you are causing.

edit: Why is this a LS question in the ITR forum?

*sigh*

8200 RPM is not enough to grenade an LS motor even with the stock valvetrain. However, it will not make for a very good shift point. The LS's torque curve drops off very rapidly after ~6500. By 8200 it'll be wheezing its poor little guts out and making practically no power. That's not what you want. ~7000 RPM is going to be about as high as you want to take an LS with stock cams/intake manifold/valvetrain simply because shifting any higher will serve only to make you slower and accelerate engine wear unnecessarily.
