i've read a ton of threads and there is tons of ideas ranging from lowjack, to killswitches and fake kill switches. extra battery for your alarm, several alarm horns and sensors. pull you ecu out at night, the club, the club for your pedals. put locktight in the ignition screws. detachable steering wheel hub, a garage with a pitbull, propping up some metal inside your garage door so someone cant trip the safety device and open it from the outside. get locking hood pins, remove the cable from your hood release, remove the interior locks. hook a string up to your toe hook attached to pots and pans in your kitchen, get a shotgun, be careful when your going home, if theres a car behind you dont goto your house and pull in a different drive-way.

the list goes on and on, but what it comes down to is that all these things are really only going to slow someone down. If they want your car, they will get it. they will have extra stuff with them. pull your plug wires off at night? they have some with em, pull your steering wheel, they have one, pull a relay, pull your ecu, they most likely will have one. and when all else fails, on to a flat bed it goes.

I don't understand people with YOUR mentality AT ALL. I'd love to see some jack **** get in my car, quickly kill the alarm, try to get off my hex bolts holding the column cover on, manage to get to the lock cylinder, proceed to try to start it, realize it's not going to, maybe try to find some kill switches, and "oh well all else has failed get the flat bed!" and expect me NOT to hear a loud *** diesel idleing while hearing chains get thrown around, yet alone the noise he makes trying to get it started??
Theifs are lazy. End of story.

I think you mean, "If all else fails (for you), you'll be staring down the barrel of my 12 guage." -Later, BR

Well i dont steal cars so I would have no clue. I personally just turn my tires hard and hit the ebrake in the garage. I wasnt so much saying the last resort.. from my understanding lately that is the first resort.. just come and take it with a tow truck.

agree with all that logic...when the car is at home. if i didnt have a honda that was a dd i wouldnt even bother with much security because i have a garage and block it with 2 cars that would need to be moved first and im a very light sleeper. where you run into trouble is your second home, aka work. in most peoples cases we are talking an open parking lot where you can be much more easily targeted then at home. and if it comes down to a flatbed ,and it has happened, they will take it in the middle of the day and dumbass onlookers if any might think nothing of it.

im thinking gps is worth the investment. i dont know if they do because i havnt begun to look into it, but if there was a way it could alert your phone as soon as the car moves that would be about as good as we can hope for until we are able to buy security robots.

If I lived in a hot area and knew my car was a possible target due to mods or enemies.

I would rig a shock system under the driver side handle, if it doesn't exist it would be simple to setup. And have it run off the alarm so you can turn it off with the alarm upon authorized entry.

yea they're lazy if its looks locked more then likely a window is just as easy to get through.

an alarm, some killswitches, gps, or removable steering wheel. all or at least 3 of those is your best choice if you have to leave it open.

if you only do one it won't be too hard for him to get over that hurdle and take your ride. but if he has to work for it he'll just move on to an easier target. maybe less worthy then your car, but if he knows he can get in that one why bother hoping to get in yours. as said theives are lazy and go for easy targets. better to get 5 bucks 20 times then a civic once after 3 hours.

just hook up a kill switch to the fuel pump wire, thieves will either have to trace the wires back, and splice them back together, unless they find the switch or they will have to tow it to somewhere that they will have the time to do it. anything that can slow them down is worth it to me... especially since a switch is a dollar or 2, and wire is not very expensive at all

wrong. i do have a fuel pump kill on top of everything else just because, but its about the worst you can do if you have the fuel pump kill alone.
first of all you can put your ***** in the filler tank and charge the fuel pump, so that alone does very little to slow down even a mediocre thief.

edited post, point is DO NOT rely on a fuel pump kill alone.

its a reality check for guys that think a fuel pump kill will do anything, theres not even any specifics. ANY thief or person with common sense can figure it out, thats the entire point of why it sucks. the only people your going to stop with a fuel pump kill (alone) is your mom or dad if they want to move your car out of the driveway.

you need to step it up and get creative, and layer it. like what this guy said ^ thats a creative solution, and his car is going nowhere...and more along the lines of stuff you might not want to post haha.

i decided to change the post anyway, but seriously guys i only say it because i dont want to see your cars get taken.

Use a fuel kill switch with an earth magnet, also get yourself a quick release wheel, alarm with 2-way paging, and DO NOT lead people back to your place!!!!

I am in a really decent area myself, and I am almost always in the garage, so if I see anybody creepin by they will know that I see them! Also helps there is one way in and one way out!

Best advice is:
-Don't show people what ya got unless they look legit!
-Don't go off racing with a bunch of shady people and lead them home w/you
-Pay attention to your mirror and if you believe someone is following...drive around the police station a couple of times!
-Just know what your doing and play things safe.
-Don't park at a big mall where thousands of ignorant people wont care when someone breaks in!...Yes, I live in Minnesota and I NEVER EVER drive and leave my car at the Mall of America...EVVVEEERRRRR! There may be thousands of people around, but not one of them will give a ****, and with that much money sitting in the ramps, there will be thieves!

I have had my car for a little over three years and I have never even had an attempt.
