Recommended alarm system for a 1994 civic hatchback?
I need protection for both doors and the trunk. This thread is in relation to my other one. I didn't know until now that the car I drive is dangerous to own cause it's so easy to get stolen.
Anyway, some insight would be helpful. Some guy jacked my stereo without breaking any of my windows. The hood was popped open, and one of my friends says that it's impossible for the hood to open without being inside the car first. So how the hell did they pop the hood open to pull out the cables for my battery (which disabled the alarm)? I'm thinking that they came into the car from the trunk, because my cheap 100 dollar alarm system only covers the doors and not the trunk. Please give me your insight.

It's the cable that runs from the hood latch to the lever under the dash. I'm pretty sure you can do the same thing to the trunk (since it has a cable), which supports your theory of the thief entering through the trunk.

hondas might be the easiest cars to break into, regardless of whether they have power door locks or not.
I broke into my buddy's car for him at school in under 30 seconds with nothing more than a clothes hanger because he locked his keys in his car.
It's VERY easy to pop your hood without getting inside the car, which is why you need a hood alarm more than a trunk alarm.
this is an example of what one can look like. it's small and relatively un-noticeable but as soon as your hood pops and pressure is released it completes the circuit and your siren will be blaring before they even have a chance to see where it is.

The only thing i can recommend if you live in cali, is to get an install by WRX-STI-Killer. He knows his ****. Im saving for a install by him. The alarm my car came with just isnt cutting it for me.

use clifford or anythign that has kill engine and covers all openings to the car. you want it to cover the windows if its broken silently with porcelin from spark plugs. also so the car cant be push started. detach your stereo next time too and maybe get a quick release steering wheel. i had my stereo stolen out of my car at school. the doors were locked when i came back but i didnt have an alarm. Hondas are really easy to open up to. You need to get a good alarm

ive been MECP certified for the past 6 years and clifford, viper, python, hornet, avital, auto mate and sidewinder are all made by DEI (Directed) and all do the exact things now and share all of the same wiring the only thing thats different is the prices and in some cases transmitter range. on my last 4 hondas i have had Avital 4101's ( i think that was the model #) i recently upgraded to the Avital 5303. same thing as a viper or clifford and like half the price. i pay 141 for them brand new and im sure you can find one on EBAY for pretty cheap. it also comes with a 2 way pager, trunk pin, door protection and trunk protection.
