sub box?
since i'm tight on trunk space, i was wondering how people set up their subs like this? (most likely they went to a shop, but i'm asking like for the design of box if it's even a box)

its like mounted into the back of the trunk.

its usually done with a false back. basically you build or buy a box that will fit at the back of your trunk (or front if you want to call it that, the part towards the front of the car.) then you cut a piece or a few pieces of mdf to attach to the face of the box so that it seals the edges along the sides and top of the trunk. it is best to cut holes around the subs in the new face that you are making so that the subs are sunken in as in the video. once you wrap the new face in carpet to match the rest of your trunk it looks like the subs are just mounted in a panel of the car. the same basic idea is used to have your amp sunken into the floor also, although that is more commonly done with fiberglass work. it may be helpful to make templates with cardboard before cutting the mdf.
not always true... just because a box is not deep doesn't mean it cant have the proper volume. you have from the floor of the trunk to the roof and from one side to the other. thats quite a bit of space to work with if you measure before building. it just takes more knowledge than a basic cube shaped box to do it correctly. also forget about doing a two sub ported box since a sealed box can be much smaller.
thanks. so i was planning on either putting 1 or 2 10's, or one 12 in my 5th gen luda... i understand the difference in sound..i was just wondering if anyone had any input which would be a better setup as far as saving space and a cleaner sounding system? also, would the 10s make my trunk rattle less?

how much bass are you looking for? if you don't want a ton of bass just one 10" would obviously save you space. if you are mainly looking for clean sounding bass i would personally go with 2 10's. having a ported box that fires through the rear deck may help with rattling the trunk but it will require more room for sure and also take more skill to do it properly.
i was debating. i was lookin at getting a 12 sealed but i'm not too sure. i just want a basic set up. nothing fancy.,if i want anything fancy i might do that thing in the video. from the inside of my car i can't hear the trunk rattling but i suppose if i dynamatted it, it might sound a lot better, so i hear, but never had experience with dynamat myself.
what do you guys think?
