EK tranny on EG?
ok i know an y8 trannie will bolt on to a z6. but in the automatic world are they the same? can i put an automatic y8 tranny on an automatic z6? going to an eg of course
I just learned this myself actually. All D series trannies work with all D series engines. So anything from 92-2000
The Y8 and Z6 are basically definitions of the head with slight mods in the blocks (nothing drastic though)

From 92-00, all sensors and plugs will line up.
I myself am putting a '92 Z6 Ex tranny on my '00 Y8 Ex. I'm putting the ends of the spectrum together and it'll bolt up and plug in just fine

Nope, transmission will physically bolt up but from an electronic perspective its completely different. ('96 - '00 Transmissions have a mainshaft and countershaft sensor, a linear solenoid and a 2 shift solenoids that '92 - '95 trannys don't have) '92 - '95 trannys are better transmissions anyway, especially the M24A found in the '92 - '94s, the A24A found in the '95s just doesn't seem to be as good, although they are 100% interchangeable.
