Default 1995 Ej1 Build thread =D

Ok so back in november i traded a 96 civic dx automatic (d16y8 swap) with broken lambo doors, cracked body kit, cracked dash, stained carpets, messy wiring and worst of all a bright neon green paint! i mean this thing was total ricer junk not that theres anything wrong with ricers but of all ricers this one was a most def wannabe.I got the thing for $900 running good just not what i was into i was just desperate for a car. But anyways enough about the ricer My brother had a 95 ej1 shell very clean body, i mean compared to my car this thing was well taken care of and he was allways more into body kit this body kit that rather than clean oem so i worked a deal with him, and we traded cars i got the ej1 with no motor and he got the DX running.

Back then i didnt think of starting a thread kinda wish i would've but now i figure is the perfect opportunity so lets lets rewind and then well fast forward back to now.

I immediatley started looking for a motor and had about a grand to spend not much i know but it just so happened my friend was parting out his turboed gsr
it had all stock components, about 96,000 miles and yeah it was ran pretty hard but it was a start (: i got the motor and tranny for an even grand even though he wanted at least 1200 so we dropped the motor in and after a a cpl ordered parts, and a used virgin p28 ecu from craigslist i got the car fired up in about 2 weeks with the help of a good friend. drove it and man oh man there was nothing like the day we fired it up going fom the d16y8 to the gsr had me feeling like I went from a camaro to a corvette but in the honda world =D and from that moment i was hooked b series or better from here on out. As time went on i went to a few track meets and felt i had started to find my place in the scene rather than that kid with the fked up neon green wannabe ricer who rattles by revving at you when your making a turn hahaha! the more meets i went to and more cars i saw the more i wanted to improve so thats when the tlc started to take place, I first got a cheap spectre cold air intake setup from autozone, weve all seen em!, and then shortly after decided if i wanted better airflow i needed to get rid of the iabs in my mani so i got a skunk2 pro series manifold. the performance was mildly better.... keyword mildley, I went to my first roadrace event at arroyo seca raceay and thats when i decided i want to auto-x or road race.. so i decided to start improving the handeling first and foremost i got new konig suspension (: then added a neuspeed rear sway bay, with custom fabbed brace, also added a megan racing front strut bar, and later got some used 15" enkeis with some kuhmo ecsta ast tires, i then decided if i want to push my car then i damn well better kno whats going on with it( also the p28 limited the gsr's capabilities so i sent my ecu off to hondata and had it chipped with the s300 put the usdm b18c1 basemap with stock injectors, and disabled knock sensor and iab cause they were both pointless considering the p28 and the skunk2 mani i set my vtec to kick at 4700 and put my launch control at 5400 rpm and i still couldnt get enough so i started saving for more parts like full exhaust, a quick release wheel ( for security & comfort) and a racing seat and other performance parts but at about $800 dollars into my savings goal of $1200 something terrible happened but not so terrible that it would shatter my dreams it would just re route them and change the game plan, I was with some friends at a private lot practicing we had a little setup with cones and stuff getting ready for the next event (wich was gonna be my first time actually entering) and all of a sudden im downshifting out of a tight 180 2nd to 1st tapped all the way til the next 90 turn but by befor that 90 i had hit my 7800 rev limit that i set with s300 and i continued to practice but a few laps later about 3 my car started making a loud clicking noise when reved above 3000 rpm ): so i hit the hazards home and when i checked the dipstick there was some very small goldish metal shavings in the oil and thats where i am at now i have a little money saved up about $900 and counting so now im just trying to see if i rebuild or go with a different block i want a good powerful n/a setup that will do good on road racing track conditions as well as auto-x but still be reliable DD. any suggestions feel free to post and ill be putting some pics up soon Cheers and Keep the honda love goin!
These pictures are off my phone so quality isnt the best but ill get some detailed pics up as soon as i get my digi back. (:
