Got home last night and went to back into the driverway, when i popped it out of first gear it just jumped out all loose. The shifter itself won't move from side to side and can move up and down freely, but is always in first gear. (no matter where the shifter is).

Wondering what the problem might be, im thinking shifter fork but im not 100%. Has anyone ever had to change one of these? Would a new trans just be cheaper, from the junkyard.. or a jdm lsd?

Anyways cars a 2000 base.

U could be very wrong, but Im gonna say check out your shift linkages. One maybe broke or came off or something.

 

^ditto. i would check your shift cables where it hooks on to the transmission.
