So i have another post Which my car had a issue. I thought the fuel pump went and main relay, Purchased both. Mechanics had my car for 2 weeks. Didnt do **** or fix it just put the pump in and said that the car still dont run.

I got to the car friday, The ECU fuse BLEW. They charged me 220, to do the pump and tow the thing less than a half mile. Was pretty irritated but W/e

ECU fuse blew and they could not figure it out. It took them 2 weeks to do jack and it took me 10 minutes.

I told my friend and he said Yea man im glad you got it going again but you need to find the short before it gets to your ecu.

2 days went by. Saturday, And sunday. Drove my car a total of maby 50 miles since i got it back on friday. DID not drive it friday night. Drove it saturday and parked it most of the day, and just went food shopping this morning. When i got back to the car it started and than i noticed a weird rumble like the car was intermitten like a mis fire. SOMETHING DEFINATLY WRONG. Smelled smoke. And next thing you know i see it bellowing from ecu area. The ecu wiped the f out this morning. My camera is in my car i wanted to take a picture of the ecu thing. I do have the ECU and it is blown. I wanted to know what exactly blew, And why. I just have to take a picture. I need to find the reason behind the thing blowing.

I do want to get another ECU

I do not want to put it in and have it smoked. The P30 Is the most expensive ECU and i just torched the resistor inside. Can anyone help with imput. I do not know what to do i have been having NO LUCK with the honda.

anyone have any ideas. Some one mentioned the Ignition switch But i highly doubt it.

 

2 possibilities that run though my head immediately.
1. growing common problem on our aging ECUs is the electrolytic capacitor leaking and taking out the board... looks a little like this when it happens... it will also make the fuel pump intermittent. (the cap is he brown canister next to the blown area)
2. wiring problem in the car is causing a voltage spike to the ECU, this causes that power diode to pop. (it's there to prevent reverse voltage damaging the rest of the ECU)

 

Wow, that's one of the worst cases I've seen.

 

I'll have to see if I can find one of the ones I had the "pleasure" of trying to repair... it quickly became a parts ECU... most of the center of the board around the plugs is gone.

Carnage erupts when caps leak(and they are left alone) plus they will eventually explode.

 

Man, that is bad. For the most part I've never had anything bad happen to an ECU of mine.

 

Well im trying to figure out what poped this little son of a bitch.

I got ignition switch as one possibility.
Now were ruling in the electrolyte i n the diode leaked out.
Including age. I dont want to plug a new one in a have a sizzle.


I have never seen anything this bad either. 1st time i ever did this
