Default 97 d6y7 overheating questions.

My 97 coupe temp guage rises all the way to the high side, even at 75 degrees and just idling. Is it my understanding that the rad cooling fan is supposed to be working once you turn the ac on? The ac fan works just fine. The rad fan is intermittent. It does turn on but it isnt on as the ac is running. You can see it, like hesitate, just as it turns on. Then it does turn on as normal.
Fan switch going bad?
No coolant leaks,

No, the radiator and condenser fans have separate controls and work independently.

Never let the engine temp rise above halfway. Otherwise, you risk permanently damaging your engine.

Start by replacing the thermostat (and possibly the radiator cap) and bleeding the cooling system. Then go from there.

It cannot be the tstat because the upper rad hose gets hot at temp. The cooling fan will turn on but it appears to hesitate, kind of start turn real slow, stop, then turn on.
I had a simialar problem on my Mbenz where the temp fan switch failed and when i replaced it, the brass area that contacts the coolant was corroded and green.
