Default chipping ecu

for the first time i had my ecu chipped i thought that if i had vtec crossover at a much earlier rpm it would make a much difference in power and torque. but looking at other peoples vids and racing against stock ecu's i think i'vee mabe a mistake there. so i dont know, do you guys think it's best to have vtec crossover a bit lower than original oem standards or higher?

i'm running a stock d16z6 motor.
chipped ecu specs are.
launch control @ 3500 rpm.
vtec crossover @ 4500 rpm.
rev limit @ 8000 rpm.
after a while i herd some guy said that it's not right to have a d16 to be having vtec crossover at a lower rpm than 5200-5500 rpm. so i've decided to get a new chip with different specs.

the only time you will gain power by lowering your vtec crossover is if your Boosted. All motor Civic's mostly have their crossover point raised or Deleted and make the most power that way! Boosted motors usually run a 3500 crossover point to help build boost!

Why would a NA motor have the VTEC crossover removed? That's like putting a restrictor plate on the motor and saying it will make more power.

i was refering to High compression all motor builds! motors built and tuned by the pro's Delete the Vtec crossover! reason for this is because of the "power Lagg" during the crossover point!

lots of random misinformation in this thread. the only way to really tune the vtec crossover is on the dyno. do a pull with vtec set really high and vtec set really low, overlay the graphs and set vtec where they cross. there is no magical number to set it to, each car is going to be different regardless of NA/boost

OP, to me it seems like you dont even need a chipped ecu. what is your setup? to take advantage of a chipped ecu you need to have the car dyno tuned. just adding an ecu and setting random maps, vtec, etc isnt going to help you gain anything.
