Default correct trans fluid help

normally i would put genuine honda trans fluid in but in germany i am not located near a honda dealership. in the service manual it says use 10w-30 or 10w-40 oil. its really my only option right now but has anyone had issues with it? i read a few posts someone had a whine in 5th gear. im assuming the person never changed the fluid in my car before and its got about 116,000 on it so i also read if it hasnt ben changed in a while that can cause issues too. any help would be great trans is a new area for me.

there shouldnt be a issue with using engine oil. i have used for over 5 or 6 year with out an issue. i change it ones a year on the tranny and check it like every 6 months for shortages or usage. for me its convenience do that i use it on my track car and my other cars thru the years that way i buy only one oil type for everything

royal purple synchromax, is available to me would that be an ok choice? oh also, i live in germany on a military post and most people dont ship here, not to mention they wont ship liquids of any kinds anyways if im not mistaken. the link you mentioned will only ship within the US and not to APO's. otherwise i would ****** it up quick. i have limited options here on base which is why i ask.

My freind ran the royal purple stuff for about a month, then drained it and went with penzoil gm syncromesh. I put the syncromesh in my si trans and its been running great. I would run that or 10-30 over the royal purple.
