Default Sway Bars and Strut Tower Bars..

I have a GSR and i think it's about time for some more suspension upgrades. I already have the ITR sway bar. I was looking at the the mugen front sway bar. It's 22mm but i noticed the R version is 26mm. What would you guys recommend for my GSR and why? Also i'm probably going to be buying tower bars for the front and back as well. Any recommendations ?

I would hesitate throwing a 26mm rear sway bar on the car without balancing it with other modifications of the suspension such as a different front bar, adjustable dampers, etc.

do i even need a front sway bar? i mean the GSR one is 24mm right? mugen would be a downgrade...

Flux, I already have the rear ITR sway bar. I also have Tein NA's. I will probably be purchasing both strut tower bars at the same time.

24mm is fine for the front. 26 is pushing it for the rear.

Just mess with dampening force, and balance out that beast.

ITR strut tower bars are good.

Size doesnt necessarly equal strength. Are they made of the same material?

Does your car over or understeer?

I would think 24mm front sway with 22mm ITR rear sway would produce understeer in a GS-R. You need to firm up the rear more (rear strut bar, pillar bar, or a cage), or get smaller front sway bar to compensate for flimpsy rear.

If I were in your situation, I would play with your shock adjustability to dial out the oversteer. (or, add more bars in the rear to firm it up)

I have the Comptech Rear Sway Tie bar Combo (22mm), the Comptech Front Tie, Spoon Rear Upper Tie, Neuspeed/Koni Yellows and Neuspeed 'sport' Springs. Wheels and Tyres are 16x7 with 205x45 Yoko A520's.

With the stock front, and the oversized rear, plus adjusting the dampers, I have been able to get a very neutral handling car with just a touch of understeer. At higher speeds at the limit with a throttle lift, the back end will come out.

Can sombody explain under and over stear alittle more. I'm pretty sure i understand what they are but i just wnat to make sure.

Also the front sway bar is the Stock GSR one. The rear is ITR. (like i've said many times). What do you guys think of the Cusco Tower bars.. The gsr front tower bar is hallow and sucks. and it doesnt have a rear tower bar.

Understeer- When you're going into a turn but your back end just doesn't want to rotate. Lack of traction in the front wheels as well. Instead of going the direction you want, you pretty much go straight. I'm sure others can give better explanations though.

Oversteer- Rotation of the rear.

Sorry for the lack of clarity, i'm sure others can give better explanations.

Get tie-bars front and back, on the bottom.
(Neuspeed, Tanabe, etc.)

and strut-tower bars for the front and back, on the top.

then get shocks. Bilsteins or Koni Yellows, and some springs like H&R Sports.

ANYTHING you can do to stiffen the chassis of the car is good. I would recommend tie bars. Front Upper, Rear Upper, and Rear Lower.

I wouldn't recommend upgrading your front sway bar unless you've got a huge rear sway bar. A bigger front will cause the car to understeer more.
