Default weird overheating problem(cant find anyone else with this problem)

I have searched, but cant seem to find anyone with this problem.
00 si with b20vtec.while driving the car, its fine.when i stop in traffic too long
it starts to overheat.temp guage goes up to about 3/4 then the fan kicks on and it cools back down to normal.
So the fan is working but it seems like its just not coming on at the right time.this happened all of a sudden 2 days ago.
i can go start the car after being cooled off and it will get up to temp but not overheat and fans kick on like normal.only seems to happen after putting a load on the car.
coolant level is up to top of neck and overflow is up to full mark.no leaking at all.no coolant in oil.

any help appreciated.

Try replacing the fan switch (~25$). Just save the receipt and return the part if it doesn't fix the problem.

If you want to go the cheap route, Just wire you fan to run while your car is running. Run the power to the ignition, or you can just put the fan on a switch.
