1994 Honda civic VX
Sup guys,
I just recently picked up a 1994 Honda Civic Vx hatch with the 1.5 d15z6 Vtec-E. I have owned several honda including 88 Crx si 90 crx si and currently a 1993 Del sol with the 1.5 Non vtec. Before yesterday sadly I didn't realize z6 came in a 1.5, was always under the impression there was only a 1.6 version. Ne ways, I got the car for dirt cheap (150), take it she needs lots of work, she was sitting for 5+ years. My main questions are, 1. Is the 1.5 vtec even worth messing with? I noticed a lot of 1.5 vtec redlining at 7k but the tach in this car says 6....is that stock, is the 7k redline the si version?
The engine its self has 196k miles on it but was a 1 owner vehicle, honestly after getting rid of my 1990 honda crx si and now driving a 1.5L del sol, quite frankly i am ready for something with a little more pep, take it my del sol gets well over 30 mpg in the city but still...
Should I just fix it sell it...or is it worth playing with...dont wana dump tons of cash into another put put like my del sol :0
Thx for any input!!

The VX has VTEC-E but it is not a Z6. It is a D15Z1 bro. D16Z6 is a 1.6 motor.
Your motor is made for fuel economy, don't bother. The Si with the D16Z6's redline is 7,200. Swap something nicer in there. Whats your budget?

VTEC-E was desiged to be a mpg wonder, I used to see low to mid 40mpg figures in town with mine. (pre swap :p ) Highway was in the 45-60 range depending on my need for speed that day.
if anything I'd use the VX as your daily commuter and bump the delsol up to peppy+.

its hard to find honda's like that, that are still stock. I found a 93 all original that an older man had. You have to spend more money when you get something all stock but at least you know who did that work and that it was done right.
