Default JDM ITR throttle dies while driving

First off I am a ITR cheater not genuine just 95 LS with JDM ITR swap so was stuck between this and the regular integras forum. Anyways, while driving my car will be fine and then I will give it throttle and the RPMS start dropping and when I give throttle it sounds like the intake is sucking in but no exhaust or engine sound. I also get a spuratic CEL that when I turn the car off to check it, it disappears and there is no familiarity when it comes on..hot, cold, high rpms, low rpms, etc. It also seems like it is slightly underpowered and quiet back fires occasionally that I didnt notice till I hollowed my cat. I checked my timing with a timing light and it is right in the middle line...think thats 14 degrees... It has DC headers, 3in bpi v stack, apexi noir exhaust, and LS cat hollowed out. Running on a P73-003 ecu but seems to redline at 8200 and in 3rd almost doesnt want to go to redline...slow on the top end. Any help would be great.

You should post this in the tech/misc or hybrid sections.

tps sensor, map sensor, fuel pressure, injectors, start with those, the timing lines are 14,16,18, the only other thought is the timing belt if you skip a tooth on one cam it may do this. when you changed out the timing belt when you bought the swap did you double check the belt install?

I am checking the cam position tomorrow when its light out as I had a hunch that is why its not as fast as expected. I guess take out the injectors and clean them and use a multimeter to check the voltage of the other sensors. I dont have a fuel pressure gauge either. Thanks for the ideas and I will repost after checking.

If you turn off your car, the computer turns off, so of course the CEL disappears. Check your CEL when the car is on. It's a 95' so it should be OBD1 (unless your OBD2 swap is running the oem computer). Just takes a paper clip.

@tyrant...I am running an OBD2 setup so I cant just use a paperclip and with my P73-003 ecu its JDM so I dont think a scanner will work...thanks for the help everyone and it hasnt done it to me in awhile but the other bug I am having is it doesnt seem that vtec engages or sounds like it...I took the vtec solenoid off and checked for free movement but the plunger speings back and no free movement...it pulls to about 8400 and then its governed and since its jdm there is no pressure sensor on the solenoid...if anyone knows how to diagnose this please help I know this car should rip harder than it is...when cel comes on it pulls the same as when the cel is off...there doesnt seem to have a change in the pitch of the engine either so if anyone knows how to make vtec louder so I can tell its engaging please lmk...thanks again cant wait to figure this out.

I am pretty sure the ECU has a memory function like a radio and when the car shuts off it should store the CEL unless its resolved...

Sorry still not resolved I checked timing and it seems dead on according to the marking and I am starting to think it may be the ECU or dizzy. Is it possible for a distributor to go bad and make your rpms off?...which in return would engage vtec at higher rpm, backfire while letting off the gas, and make my redline at 8300?
