Default Car hits VTEC falls on it's face tuning issue or timing issue?

Car: 94 ' Civic 4dr

Engine 00' B16A2

Mods: Ctr pistons, blox tuner 2 cams, type-r intake mai, type-r throttle body, buddy club cam gears, (intake -2 ex 0) per blox reccomendations) i/h/e, hondata s300 itr base map with a good 13:1 fuel tune, minor changes to ignition.

Problem:

Whenever im driving the car and i go to roll on the throttle and the engine hits vtec, you can here it engage but the car struggles to pull rpm and seems to actually move slower, especially in 3rd gear, 4th gear the car cant even seem to make it to red line.

Any ideas as to what this sounds like, the car seems to pull pretty well though mid range up to vtec.

That sounds like your fuel is really rich in the high cam. Did you tune it, or did someone else tune it? If you tuned it, you need to try some research in the tuning section. Otherwise, get with your tuner right away, and STAY OUT OF V-TEC!

My civic was doing the EXACT same thing...and it was a stock GSR. They only thing I messed with was the TPS but I didnt get a CEL from it at all. I just made sure the voltage was right and it was off. At full or almost full throttle the car choked on itself.
I changed MAP and did voltage on TPS and my problem was fixed. As far as your problem goes I would definately get a different tune as your are no where near 13:1 compression. If anything you might be around 12.1. I think start with a different base map on 12.1 compression. Is your valve lash right?

Call Derek Robinson in Carlisle, PA from Innovative, great friend of mine and AWESOME tuner. He can work out the bugs.

i ment a 13:1 Air Fuel ratio, not compression. but do you have a number or contact info, the only tuner in my area i know is hybrid dynamics, but i'm not too sure because i hear some good and some bad and i also hear they do alot more nissan stuff.
