1996 Civic Coupe. (First Car)
Alright guys, well this is my first post. I don't really know if I'm in the right place but here i go.
Well mind you I'm 16 and this is my first car. I just picked a Pearl Sierra Green I believe is the color 1996 Coupe ex for 1100.00 its in decent shape. The only set back is that it's automatic. But I can live with it for now. I do know how to drive a 5 speed I just haven't been able to find something in my price range.
Well the car has a few problems as nothing is perfect. It has a small leak in a back. The trunk seal came off. The transmission D4 light is flashing. I haven't checked that out yet. And it also has a small knock. I believe it is the valves. The car also has some bondo on the rear quarter panel. And a few dents. The interior is in excellent condition. The door panels were taken off to fix the locking mechanisms. Besides that the seats have no rips, and also are stain free. The transmission is my main concern.
Anyways I don't really have any big plans just want to make everything clean. The car now has some ugly aftermarket headlights and a silver bumper. And some 17' inch chrome rims.
My plans are. Yellow fogs, side markers, diff grill, 50/50 rear tail lights, oem headlights, 5k hids, front Mugen Style lip, and final a nice set of honda-tech approved rims.
Any ideas, questions, or comments let me know. Constructive criticism is approved.

In my opinion, that was a nice find. I paid $1500 for my 94 coupe in much worse shape.
Take your time and repair the annoying things right the first time. You will save a ton of money that way. Overall it looks to be in decent shape. Just needs a little TLC before any serious mods can be done.
Good Luck.

IMO always take care of maintence first before you start spending money on appearance or anything else. I take it that if you spend only 1.1k on this car that your wallet is pretty light at the moment so spend on whats needed first.
Thanks guys. The advice is much appreciated.
I managed to fix the leak in the back. It was simple nothing to big. I found a little rust so while I was there I pulled out my handy grinder and got to work.
The transmission seems to be fine I don't know what is the cause for the blinking D4 light. But I still have to do an inspection for a leak. The knock in the head is going to have to wait a bit.
Today the sun was out and shinning bright after days of rain, so I took the bumper off and began to sand it down.

The bumper has like some clear rubber compound on the bottom. It seems to me that it's silicone. My grandpa tried to help me out a bit as well.

I did the best I could for now. I still have a little more silicone to take off and a little bondo to apply.

makin progress!! I was reading back on your plans and when you get side markers i would suggest getting the fenders it takes a bit of measuring to get the fender signals to line up perfectly. And if you order the fenders and lights they come with a harness which makes life easy all you would have to do is paint them bolt them on and plug the harness in to your stock harness and you got your self fender signals!
if d4 is flashing that tranny probably isn't going to last long. i know when mine did it it was starting off in second gear it would never go into first.
I was looking around the bumper, and sure enough someone must have glued the lip because there were no holes from any previous screws.
That's a good idea about the fender signals I might just do that. We will see.
About the tranny, ive been looking around and I can't really pin point the problem. I know when I got the car it had absolutely no transmission oil at all. So I filled it up and seem to solve the problem for a short term. So I'm kinda clueless on that one.
Tomorrow I plan on going to the junk yard to get a few pieces for the interior. I need some much needed door panels and visors. I also am going to be looking for some mud flaps and just maybe I will be able to find the tail lights. The hood handle is completely broken so ima be looking for that as well. Also on my list will be some small interior pieces.
So I believe that's all for now. I appreciate any wisdom from the older Honda-Tech community.
