weird clicking sound and no turn over with motor. pleases help
Hey i just tried to start my car after an a6 complete swap and my first try it didnt make a sound when i tuned to start it and some of the light indicators on my cluster started to flash and it also makes a weird clicking sound? any idea what it could be?
sounds like your not getting a good ground somewhere... try to figure out where the clicking noise is coming from ... it could direct you to the problem to your car.
the wrong engine harness might be the problem you prolly didnt convert the harness to si maybe... thats the only thing i can think of besides check fuses
i bought a harness that was pre-converted to mpfi and i found where all the plugs went on the engine pretty quick.. have an si ecu, resistor box.. the clicking sounds like its coming from right in the area of the hatch release handle on the drivers side
theres a ground underneath your dashboard by hood realease handle . also the main relay and starter relay are also located near each other in the same area too..
check the wire/grounds for your main relay, that is definately your problem the relay keeps clicking on and off that is the noise you are hearing. Make sure the bolt attaching your ground is tight.

ok you guys were right about the ground.. I made a silly mistake and figured out i didnt have the ground wire from the top of the valve cover to the frame and the littler one that runs to the front side of valve cover.. it started right up after connecting them.. thanks guys for your help!!!
Do yourself a favor and install some more grounds from the battery terminal to the engine block, head and frame. If that one little wire was the only ground, you will need more. Your engine will run smoother if you get an HKS circle earth kit.
