Buying a EF sedan
There is a guy about 4 hours away selling a 1991 Honda Civic Sedan DX
I have his number and I am going to call him sometime today
Are they're any specific questions I should ask?
This is what i've got so far:
-Mileage, body and motor?
-Title in hand?
-VIN number?
-Original paint?
-Original motor?
-Original interior?
-How many owners?
-Any rust?
-Any accidents?
-A/C working?
-Modifications?
-Oil changes?
-Transmission smooth?
I need to know all this information before I drive 4 hours there and 4 hours back to come home empty handed.
Any other questions I should be asking?
Would it be a good idea to pay for a carfax report?

First and foremost you need to ask for detailed pictures.
-Gauge cluster to show odometer.
-Vin number on FIREWALL.
-Each tire/wheel.
-Multiple shots of interior.
-Engine compartment.
-Close up of each body panel, roof.
The pics will explain most of your questions.
Disregard the amount of owners, its a 20 year old car, if the guy is younger then obviously he isnt the original owner...
You will have to test drive for yourself to determine if the tranny is good, dont take anyones word for it.

but you should also ask:
- Maintenance records
- What does and does not work in the interior: A/C, defrost, all windows go up and down
- Title? Clean or salv.
To save you the time in driving 4 hours to check out the car yourself you should try using AiMmobileinspections.com. AiM is a professional vehicle inspection company that will definitely hit all the spots that you are wondering about. The inspection includes exterior and interior as well as a test drive. It also includes pictures in your inspection and everything! check it out. This is what made car buying so easy for me.
Oh and be sure that the reverse lamps light up properly. There appears to no cure for this inherited problem.
