My Accord smells like fuel while driving, and really bad after fueling at a station. It idles very rough when at lights, or stop signs but is fine drving. I get very shitty gas mileage as well. Any idea what this is?
Check your fuel hoses, make sure there aren't any pinhole leaks. What about the fuel filter, when's the last time you changed it? I'd also take a look at each spark plug, maybe you have a sticking injector...
On my 90, the main supply line from the tank rusted out at the rear end of the cluster of five lines that run under the car. There is a cover over all the fuel connections on the left side of the tank. When you fill up next time, turn the ignition on/off several times to pressurize the fuel line, then take a good look under the car near the tank to check for drips. New fuel line fixed this one.
On my 93 wagon, had a fuel injector seal leaking. Same procedure for this (might work better on a cold engine so the fuel doesn't evaporate so quickly). Ignition on/off several times, the sniff/feel around the fuel connections under the hood for fuel leaks. New seals on the injector fixed this one.

Now OP, as viera asked, what has been done maintenance wise? There could be a couple things that would lead to this condition so we need to narrow this down.
For the rough idling, I'd say to readjust the throttle under the hood. My Accord used to do the same, as well as my mechanic's. He has a '91 sedan (EX) and I have a '92 coupe (LX).

sorry, I bought the car for a couple hundred dollars, it has 236k miles. Nothing done since I bought it.
There could be several culprits or maybe just one (though it sounds like at least two).
Definitely troubleshoot your ignition and fuel system as others have suggested. Any CEL's?
The idle could be the IACV or TPS (or a few other things but those are often the culprits).
How is the exhaust looking? Any leaks you can hear or see? Idk, there are so many things that could be causing your many symptoms... Just start trying some of these and report back.
Also, do you know if the car's ECU had been messed with at all? Know if any motor swaps were done? You could have a bad ECU/badly wired ECU/wrong ECU. Just some food for thought...
Anyway, this is a tech forum. Your post is not even tech related. Please go to the General Discussion forums at the bottom of the main page. Thank you.

No maintenance records? Damn, well I guess it's time to start throwing things out there...

They have this in hopes that new members might search the site, learn the rules, and find their answer instead of posting a thread that might be unnecessary. Obviously it doesn't always work that way.
