Icon2 Honda paint. Seriously?

67k on an '08 with no major issues is pretty damn good. To my dismay the scratches on my nhbp are adding up, especially since i traveled to multiple construction sights for my last job.

Would someone mind posting a pic or a link of something that is reparable and/or stuff that i should just throw my hands up in the air and walk away. My hood is getting to the point where i am considering a cf replacement using money that i no longer have (fp/tune!!!)

help por favor?

The paint sucks compared to older honda paint due to fed regulation to use paints that are not as voc nasty. My hood is splitting all over...just from nothing and the bumper is all impressionable. Oh well. Its just paint.

And here is the thing about scratches , if your finger nail can catch it , its gone. You can use a polish like meguiars scratch-x by hand and lessen or remove everything else. Even the finger nail catchers you can reduce some...if its white looking though its not going to change much.

working at a dealer, I've seen the touch-up paint specialist do some pretty nasty work with scratches. He usually uses touch-up paint with some very fine tools (and a steady hand) to fill in the scratch, then buffs or wet sands it smooth. They usually come out looking very clean, if not gone completely.

I would like to know the particular method he used. I have a Galaxy Grey Si and the touch up paint is a far cry from the actual paint. Maybe it needs some more attention?

I've really just seen the before and after of his work... I don't have alot of time during the day to hang outside and watch him work his magic lol... I do know he mixes his own paint, he doesn't use factory touch-up paint. Usually when I see touch-up paint, its laid on too heavy with a brush thats wider than the scratch, which just looks tacky. He uses those very fine tools and a very light layer of paint to fill in just the scratch. The only other thing I know is that it usually comes out looking very clean.

As far as cost, I'm not really sure. He mostly handles the pre-owned vehicle inventory, so he charges the sales department lol...

did you wax regularly? i try to put a good coat of wax on at least once a month. i feel it's necessary living on the east coast with the CONSTANT change of temperature, humidity, poor air quality/increase UV, etc...

i've heard that you have to shake up those touch up bottles A LOT

OP: if you are referring to crows feet on your hood, if you go to a good dealership and explain to them what crows feet is, they may warranty your hood and repaint it for free as a "one time, courtesy" job. i was able to get mine done at like 40k or so. i dont know about you since you are at 67k but it is worth a shot.

well my honda still looks good on black. I wash it 1-2 a week since anybody in my house tends to borrow it. And I always have time to wipe them dry after washing to look sharp and shiny. I am also planning to tint the window with black

well thank you. After some hazard time in the office I always try to clean when I arrive home so that when I go out to work for tomorrow I would not be bothered by those people staring at your car since dust and mud are everywhere in your car.

Even when i apply light-to-medium pressure to the brakes over a bumpy surface my ABS kick in. i'm at 67k and have only gotten my rear rotors machined once (i foolishly paid out the a$$ at the dealership). I have new pads in my trunk but can't get to a lift to check my current ones out. There is no noise of any sort, nor is there any jerkiness that is associated with having worn rotors.

Do i need new pads, rotors, or both?

What does this have ANYTHING to do with Honda's paint? Start a new thread.

https://honda-tech.com/forums/paint-body-84/scratches-hood-have-no-clue-what-do-2801658/ if it looks anything like my hood you might have to sand and maybe even paint. When the weather cools down im going to try the mothers professional system... its like 5 steps.. sanding, compounds, polishes, and wax.

The factory paint does suck in my opinion

I had to drill some holes in my front bumper to mount the license plate(missouri requires front plates)..been driving it for a few months and it looks fine...any chance the paint will start to chip around the drill holes? any advice on how to prevent it?

The front end of my Civic is all dinged up at 24k and the front end of my wife's Fit is torn to hell at 38k. :hs: The paint chips so easy.
