Trunk floor cover?
What up!? I was wondering what material the floor of the trunk is made out of? Like the wood or that thick cardboard material lol. Not sure what it is but I need that and was wondering if I could get it at like Home Depot or Lowes or something like that. I'm totally lost on this. Any help would do!
I went to Lowe's and got 1/8" thick plywood, and used my friends to trace out the shape and cut my own... Works perfect, and if you spray it down good with water repellent before hand it will help prolong the life and keep it from warping... GL..
Cool...yeah. I was thinking plywood would work but wasn't sure. I'll try out the plywood with the water repellant and see how that works! Now to find how it's shaped lol! Thanks!!!

It's like a heavy duty pressed cardboard. Or a flexible particle board.
Coupe/sedan trunk boards can be cut into hatch ones. The coupe and sedan bodies are just 10 inches longer than hatches, all through the rear end.
I've personally made a trunk board for a hatch out of one for a coupe (which is the same as a sedan).
I'm talking about 6Gs in particular, but it might work for 5Gs too.

Since I found this thread in my search results too... Maybe this will help someone later on down the road.

I couldn't find this image when I saw this thread, but just found the image again and remembered your questions.
Here is a photo, along with measurements, of my stock '98 Civic coupe trunk board. This would be the same shape for any '96-'00 Civic coupe or sedan.

I don't immediately have the measurements for a hatch here, but here is an image of a hatch trunk board (from the eBay link above).
I have personally taken a '96-'00 Civic coupe trunk board and cut it to fit perfectly into a '96-'00 Civic hatch. So if you have a hatch and find a '96-'00 coupe or sedan trunk board, you can make one to fit the hatch out of that. Just cut the front of the board off.
(Front of vehicle is at the BOTTOM of the image for this pic.)

You can borrow one from a friend or something...trace it out...and cut with a jigsaw. The whole project from start to finish...maybe 20 minutes if you really take your time and smoke a cigarette between the tracing and cutting.......
Okay, so I'd actually heard before what it was made out of but it was totally not something I would have retained since I'd never heard of masonite before that point.
Any idea of a product that one could use that would still be smooth and lightweight like the OE board, but stronger? I just don't know what I'd use. I've never worked at a hardware store/home improvement store/finishing store and never really got the home improvement bug quite like the rest of my family.
