Default ls vtec problem

ok here is ma problem a reputable builder from my area built ma ls vtec ctr pistion arp rod bolts ctr manifold gsr cam and when the tuner revved up the a coulpe of times and it threw a rod. now i am not too versed in this area but i cant understand why this happend at first i thought i was caused by over torquing the rod bolt or something along that line but the builder said everything was done to the correct specs. what else could cause this to happen? the engine was built and sat in the car for 3weeks without out drivin it but occaisionly started and left running for like 15 mins or so this is where i really puzzled and fustrated.

Yeah rods don't just go out if built properly. Have your reputable builder replace that ****
