08yfzrider....

1. did you personally purchase the dist??
.... if so confirm you have a good connection at the plug maker sure cap and rotor are in good shape/ also if you purchased a remanufactured dist from autozone or any major auto store try exchanging it for another one sometimes they forget to properly inspect the igniter chip inside (common problem on obd0 honda dist.'s)

2. if your vehicle has a d15b6 in it somewhere along the line someone downgraded the engine your car should come with a d16a6 mpfi.... that engine came on 88-89 crx HF(dpfi) and came in a mpfi for the year 90-91, so check which one you have... you will only need the si harness if you have the mpfi

your info's a little off there buddy, all hf's, from 88-92, came stock mpfi.

o/p, the b6 bottom end is perfectly fine to use, but you gotta have the si or dx head to make it breath properly. the 8 valve head sucks for everything but mpgs

as far as wiring harness's go, you'll need an obd-0 mpfi engine wiring harness from an ex sedan, si hatch, crx si or hf to make your car properly run.

alright, ive been messing with this thing all night, the car will start up and run for about 15 secs an shut off. its getting plenty of fuel, but when i check spark only cylinder 3 seemed to be sparking. someone told me even tho the car does not have the stock motor i still need stock computer? i check timing and its in time. now when i shut the key off the check engine light and oil light stayed on. may not have anything to do with my problem but just gonna throw everything out there that i noticed. theres wires spliced on the harness on the drivers side by the strut tower. im totally stumped and have no clue where to go with this thing now. any info would be GREATLY appriciated.

POST UP PICS. Check your check engine light codes. And as for the HF they all are MPFI unless you are from canada or somewhere else. Forgot to add I think the HF harness is differnet from the Si harness though.

harness should be the same for the HF and the SI. I have a Civic with the MPFI SI harness and I can run and drive the car with both the HF and the SI ecu. From the chilton's wiring diagram, the only difference I saw between the two was the HF has EGR valve wiring coming from the ecu so I'm pretty sure the only problem you would have is an EGR valve code in your ecu if you ran the HF ecu on an SI harness

well i found the wiring diagrams the guy was using, looks like i got the si harness pluging into the hf harness, and he was trying to wire up the igniter, amd has 4 wires running to the injectors and has this harness all hacked up, so a buddy of mine has a si harness off a 91 hatch im gonna pick up tomorrow and change the whole harness & fix the stuff they cut and hopfully the car will run .

alright guys,
i changed the hf harness back to the factory si harness, got a resistor box and hooked it up, car still wont start. its getting real weak spark on 2 cylinders and none on the other. this is the 2nd new dist and still coming up with code 15, and now its also throwing a code 10???????? i have the pm6 an 8 ecus tried em both and still nothing..i looked on one site and its saying something ab out the ignition switch, which is screwed up i think because when i jiggle it it shuts everything off. could the ignition switch cause my problem? also is there anywhere else i can look????
