New York, NY (FPRC) July 12th, 2010
The SICC staff would like to thank everyone who supported the event this past weekend on July 10th, 2010. Unfortunately for us, the spectators, racers and fans alike we had to cancel the event due to extremely poor weather conditions. It was probably one of the hardest decisions that we have ever had to make. The weather forecast showed different changes that made it almost impossible to predict what was going to happen during the course of the day. We kept seeing different percentages in regards to the chance of rain. Most of the day we saw chances of thunderstorms between 40 percent - 70 percent. The decision to cancel the event due weather showed to be the choice. We were hit with a torrential downpour between 2:30 pm until 4 p.m. The storm stretched approximately 3.5 - 5 miles in circumference. Site visibility was less than 1 foot while driving and made it very dangerous to be out, especially at the track. The storm was then on and off until around 6 p.m. We waited around until 8 p.m. to see what may have happened. Another storm moved in at that time and proved that we would not have been able to run the event successfully.
We are aware of the fact that racers, fans and car show participants have to make a financial investment in order to come to these events. We were very thankful to see the amount of people that made the decision to come out to this event. This was definitely going to be an event to remember for people in the Carolina region. Photographer Ben Howard posted a few images which shows the amount of people that came out in support of our 1st event. Here are the images below.....

North Carolina and the surrounding areas definitely have a strong Sport Compact performance market. We will continue to provide a place for these enthusiasts to race and show there prospective project vehicles. With that being said we are looking to reschedule this event in the near future. The tentative date will be Saturday September 11th, 2010. We have checked our scheduling along with that of the track and other event organizations. That is the only date in which we can see it being possible to run this event. We will keep everyone updated in regards to the SICC Drag Racing series and the event at Fayetteville Motorsports Park.
The next stop for the Sportsman Import Compact Championship will be on August 8th, 2010 at Capitol Raceway. Thank you again to all supporters of SICC Drag Racing. We truly appreciate your support.

so SICC will be at Capitol Raceway august 8th?
their website says:
"Sunday August 1, SICC Sportsman Import Compact Championship
Street Legal Import Compact Drag Race Series"
I had intentions of going to this one but the weather lead me to not even leave Wilmington. I will be in Virginia starting August 1st. So which is the correct date?

thats nc weather for ya, we got the call that the race had been rained out when we were about 30 minutes away. so we headed to rockingham, where some of the displaced racers went to run test and tune. the weather was perfect.... of course.
im glad nyc1s is rescheduling the race and looking forward to it.
btw, i saw a rlz make a pass at rockingham.... i think the nc local is going to give the nj big dogs a run for there money.

I dont understand why people get so bent up towards the series for a rain out. Not like the people holding the even can help it, and you took the chance knowing what the weather conditions could be when you left. Im looking forward to this series, maybe make it to a few races.

I think the New Jersey boys that live here in Myrtle Beach are scared, they seem to have taken offense to this statement was the impression I got at the local shop tonight. They have no idea what the RLZ hatch is capable of with the right " motivation "
