transmission break down
ive been having some problems with my 01 civic. every once in a while the check engine light would come on and then my transmission starts going out on me while im driving. but then when i turn my car off for a while and then turn it back on then it starts back driving normal. this usually happens once a week. does anybody know what the problem could be?
I had a similar problem. But it wasn't long before the entire car stopped wanting to move. Turned out my transmission was completely screwed.
Try checking the code when you get a check engine light again at a autozone or other autoshop place. But it almost sounds exactly like the same problem I had.
I've learned that our generation of civic trans are weak.

Take it to Autozone, or any other auto parts store that will scan your car for free.
Once you have the code(s), come back here and post them.
There's no need to run off to the stealership. You might be able to fix it yourself for a lot less money. (but we need to know what codes are being thrown in order to help)
