Default Blinking oil light

I have a blinking oil light and I have a oil leak that is gradual. Can anyone provide me with info on where I should start investigating first? I was thinking that the blinking oil light might be oil pressure switch but am unsure if it that or low oil. Going to be working on the car tomorrow so i'm trying to get a game plan together.

could be the pressure switch but if its not then you're in trouble because it could be low oil pressure which means oil pump or engine bearings
