Default finally found one..

Im picking up my r tomorrow. Can't wait. Its a 2001 Py R with only 17952 miles. Here is the link. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false. No pictures there but I did see the car in person 10 out of a 10. 1 owner and been garage its life with clean carfax. No dents no dings. No rips nothing. Its perfect. Only mods was aem v2 intake, carbon hood and apexi 1 exhaust. The rest is stock. Im already planning to drop the car with koni and gc. My only thing is that I want the ride quality to be stock as possible. I want to drop it atleast 2 inch with with the stock wheels. Spring rate with 350 f and 300 r. Is that a good setup?? I will post pictures tomorrow.

It didn't come with the original hood? Have you already signed the paperwork? If not, I'd *demand* an original hood be included in the deal.

And there is no such thing as a 2"+ drop and stock-like ride. Just isn't going to happen. If you try it, you'll be bottomoing out everywhere.

I did demand for the hood but the dealership dont have it. The original owner sold it before the trade in. What do you recommend then?? I hate that gap just want it a little lower with good ride quality.

Make them buy you a new OEM hood and have it painted. At their cost, it shouldn't be that much money.

And how well did you look the car over? non-OEM hood, clear corners, misc intake and exhaust mods, etc. Just make sure it hasn't been modded more than you think it has.

And who sells their OEM hood?

At that price I would demand all the OEM parts be included one way or another. Poor car, I hope you take better care of it then the original owner did. Congrats and good luck with whatever ends up happening.

Out of curiousity, how is it a "poor car" and how did the original owner not take care of it? On what information are you basing that opinion? Personally, I don't think any of us here (including the OP) know enough about this specific car to say how it was cared for.

Clear corners are a common mod, as are intake and exhaust. I'm not a CF hood person but I'd be more OK with that than a lot of other mods. Sure, it'd be up for sale about 1 hour after buying the car, but still.

This is an awesome car, 17k miles!~

swap the corners for amber OEMs, and have them order you a new hood and have it painted. As for the price I'm sure the dealer won't budge too much considering...................they're a dealer

PS, spend $500-1000 on an alarm before you do ANYTHING

As far as "bottoming out" goes, My R is lowered 2" and the suspension never bottomed out "on itself". Just have to drive like you got some sense. Rides a bit stiffer but I like the way it feels. Just watch out for speed bumps and armadillos.

If it were 100% original and mint, then the listed price might not be too far off. However, with it missing a $1000 hood and other aftermarket prices, then I agree that it was over-priced.

If you increase springrates, then you can lower 2" just fine. But don't expect 300lb springs with a 2" lower ride height to not be contacting the bumpstops on a constant basis.

But with increased springrates comes increased shick valving and with those two--no way you're going to have an "OEM like" ride.

Nice find! Enjoy heR! I also have an '01 PY Type-R, Love it!

BTW. If you want an OEM PY Hood to replace your Carbon Hood (or just want to have the OEM hood as a spare) contact HyperITR742. He has one up for sale. Haven't seen pics or dealt with the guy before, but you might be interested....

I did not pay what the asking price ask lol definitely not. Put it this way I got more than a few g's off. Also I did mention about the hood, lights etc. I told them to put it back to stock but damn dealer wouldn't do it for me. Bastard. I know it is a little expensive but I really wanted the car so Im willing to pay for it. As for lights Im going to replace back to oem. The hood I will keep for now. I will replace that when it start to get boring for me. I will definitely keep good care of this baby. As stated it is my weekend car. Now as for spring rate what would you recommend?

I dont think its too bad of a price... even for a yellow R! ROR! I would at least try to get the hood taken care of on the dealers wallet! But either way, throw some ambers back on heR, and enjoy!

I'd recommend not lowering it 2".

As for spring rate, that depends on what you are using it for and how much money you are willing to spend on getting good shocks. Koni's are decent, and should let you run up to 500lb/in or so. Stock rate is 246lb/in all around, and if you are just driving the car on the street, you can run something like 400/400.

I wouldn't lower it 2" on 1,000lb/in springs, but then I don't care about "looks".

This is what im running. GC/Koni Yellows and its by far my favorite set up ive ever had. The dampener adjustment is real easy and the car rides really nice. I also had my caR corner balanced and aligned at WEST END, which i HIGHLY recommend. (best money ive spent on my R was at WEST END)

Oh I agree. To me there is a big difference in "stiff" or "rough and bouncy".
