Describe any and everything you did to clean your egr, and what exactly you cleaned. I would think it's a vacuum leak somewhere. Most of the time when I try fixing a problem, if I'm not careful I create another one. Remember that old parts are just waiting to be shook so that they will fall apart/open/break. Then you have to try to find the problem you created.

Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of is vacuum is being incorrectly applied to the valve at idle. Remove your hose from the valve put your finger on the end of it and see if you feel vacuum when the car is started. There should be no vacuum at idle.

Most likely a bad EGR control solenoid or you got something screwed up with your vacuum hose routing.

Ok, dude, again, what EGR procedure did you do? Secondly, describe what you did in detail. If you leave anything out, nobody can help you fully.

Also, you reset the ecu by unplugging the radiobackup fuse not the ecu fuse.

You reset the ecu by pulling the "radio backup" fuse, not the ecu fuse. I was doing that too until I read differently.

I'm trying to pull the vacuum diagram for your car but I'm trying to figure out what car you have, did you do an engine swap?

is it the B1 or B2? Did you put the gasket back on properly..maybe there could a small gap. How about the fuel injectors? Are they flush against the gaskets?

could it be a blocked vac line somewhere, or maybe some loose carbon blocking something inside? after cleaning my egr valve and stuff, the brand new pcv valve got a bunch of gunk in it. had to take it off and spray out.

he could try running some seafoam through the vac lines and intake. if its a clog, that should take care of it. plus its only $10, so if it doesnt help, its not a huge waste... and actually probably not a waste at all, since any car can use a good cleaning.

Really, why is that? So what is the fuse for the ECU for? I thought the whole point of the pulling the fuse is so that the clock and the stereo won't reset. So that suck.

Oh, did you bleed the coolant? Since you might have lost some coolant taking the EACV and the FITV off.

Thanks.

ecu fuse is probably so it doesn't burn up in an overload situation, backup must mean memory.
