Heater fan removal on 89 CRX with AC?

How do you do a Heater Fan removal on 89 CRX with AC?
I can remove the three mounting screws, (under and forward of the glove box) but there doesn't seem to be enough room to drop the heater motor and fan. Any knowledgeable info will be greatly appreciated.
