Default hondata s200 vs s300

what is so much better on the s300? i can see from hondatas website that the s300 fits inside the ecu and has internal memory and also has a usb port to connect to a laptop.

i can pick up a p28 with the hondata s200 already installed for 200$ (off a forum board)

if i buy the s300 then im looking at 500$ plus an ecu..

i have crower stage 2 cams and skunk 2 springs/retainers/gears

i will build the bottom end in the future and am planning to go boost. but for now im stopping at the head.

should i just go ahead with the used s200? or should i dish out the big bucks for a new s300??

Major problem is connnectivity to laptop with s200. s200 and maybe the s300 block the self diagnostic procedure from working, no check engine light codes (just solid CEL), you have to log into the hondata to see your engine codes, so it makes it difficult to troubleshoot your car.

If the s200 was tuned before romeditor4 came out then you can use any serial to usb converter to log into the s200., if it was tuned on the later then you need to buy a $200 hondata proprietary cable with a encrypted code and chip that is in the cable to allow visibility to the s200.

Get the s300 and save yourself headaches. Instant communication and adjustments via USB. ->and you don't need a chip burner to make changes.

Phearable.net makes basemaps for free for their hondata customers but maybe someone who has bought from them can give more info on how accurate they are, I plan on buying the s300 soon as well.

I have one as well and I used a base map I found on the hondata s300 calibrations forum for my stock h22a and what a difference! from there I did minor tuning and got great results from it but I also payed 750$ from an ebay store that sells the ecu's already chipped.
