scratches on hood have no clue what to do!!!

can anyone tell me why this is happening to the hood of my car.... 2007 civic 60k miles.. Is there any way to fix this without painting????
I think that's the clear coat cracking under heat and cold stress. Do you park out in the sun for long periods of time? especially on black paint. Don't know if you can just sand and buff. it's worth a shot, but I think you might need to repaint. but you can't quote me on that.
There are round flecks in the pics that definately aren't cracks, but either chips or a substance on top of the paint. You should clean the surface well to know for sure that everything you're looking at is actual damage. Start with soap & water on the whole car, rinse, dry and then rub the hood well with some wax & grease remover and a shop rag. Make sure that the flecks on the surface of the hood won't rub off. After cleaning the car, examine all painted panels for surface damage. Does the front of the car look like you've been driving behind a dumptruck filled with sand? I can see the same problem on the grill piece between the headlights- post what other panels have this problem after cleaning.

eyger - it gets hot in nc. not so much cold... I live in an apartment that has no shade for the parking lot.
gorillafart - no this is the original paint job.....
delsolproblems - I know some of those pits are from highway driving... I have to drive highway 15 min to and from work daily... I try to stay as far way from trucks as possible.
Its the small eyelash sized cracks that concern me. they are only on my hood. all other pits and scratches are on the bumper, mirrors, and hood.
Id like to sell my car soon and its an eyesore.

after you wash the car good, does the paint feel rough like sandpaper? If it does, id recommend you pick up a clay bar kit, either mothers or meguiars, and see how it comes out.

If it is indeed scratches coming out on the paint, nothing short of sanding, compounding and polishing will help that, with a buffer. But the kinda pattern im seeing on the paint makes me want to say theres something on the hood rather then deep scratching.
not sure what causes that but i know sanding and buffing wont take that away i painted a car that had that going and you have to sand down past paint then prime and repaint
