Reusing Head bolts d16a6..torque spec?
i torqued my head down to 48ft lbs of torque.. i only have 125 psi per cylinder right now and the car will not run.. can i torqque them down more ? i am reusing a metal gasket as well, i hit both sides with copper spray... anyone got an idea
Not to sound negative............but are you serious? Re-Using a HEAD GASKET? Re-using the head bolts is bad enough, and while many do it and things work okay, they are Torque To Yeild, meaning they stretch. So yeah, you'll need to torque em down a lil more, maybe like 5-6 additional ft. lbs. Also do them in steps, half torque amount first, then the full amount.
But re-using the HEAD GASKET? Even a cheapo ebay no name gasket is only what, like 20-30$ shipped? Good luck man, I've done some pretty good ghetto fabulous things before, but this takes the cake.

If it didn't seat yeat and hasn't been heat cycled, that's a different story. Don't over torque, don't wanna snap one of them bolts. Are you sure the gasket is the problem and not a valve seal or ring? The motor should run with anything over 120ish across the board. Albeit a bit low, its do able.

idea 1: dont reuse your head gasket.
idea 2: dont reuse the original head bolts. at least reuse 92+ D series bolts which are meant to be reused.
idea 3: dont ask for ideas and ignore it.
reusable 3 or 4 times??!! you fail as a mechanic.
educate yourself.

I agree with the post below this one, TTY bolts are re-usable ONCE. Even though it's not good practice they are allowed to be re used ONCE. However most GOOD technicians will replace them because they're generally not that ones that have been under your hood and have no way of knowing if that have already been re used once or not. But 3-4.......please do some more research and learning.
You aren't supposed to but you can re use the metal gaskets , I re used one 2 times! no problems just clean it and spray it with permatex copper spray.
This stuff is fantastic

And I've never bought new head bolts lol re use them!
it should run on 125 maybe the timing is off does it sound like its trying to start?

CHECK THE TIMING THRICE MORE TIMES!
If you need to over tighten, you've done something wrong. with copper spray on there, it will certainly hold 150 for now. If it was the gasket or piston rings then pressure would be uneven across the cylinders. if its consistent across all 4 cylinders you probably have a valve/timing issue to address.
