d16z6 no spark... searched
hey i just put a d16z6 into my 1989 DX sedan, im running a PO6 (i know it's non vtech) with obd1 jumper, and have modified my harness for obd1 and mpfi. I'm getting a code 15 (ignition output signal) on both a PO6 and P28. I have replaced the coil and ignitor, and even tried a known good dizzy as a replacement. I used a multimeter to check all grounds and the engine/dizzy are grounded. I'm getting 12v to the dizzy at the black/yellow wire, and 10v at the fat white wire. The main relay, and ignition fuse are good. Any ideas?
I had a problem with my first hatch that was similar. I too did the MPFI swap, and found for whatever the reason, the shielded 2 conductor wire was the culprit. Replaced it from the ECU to the Dizzy, and the code disappeared. Strange thing was although I had a code, the car ran fine.
what shielded wire are you talking about?
i unbolted the dizzy from the block and grounded it, then manually spun it to try and get spark with the key on. no luck, but i could hear the injectors cycling as i spun it. also im getting 12v to both the positive and negative side of the coil. is that normal? as well as 12v at the coil output to the cap.
still getting a code 15. double checked all wires, im completely out of ideas.
can i manipulate the ignitor to fire the coil in any way without the ecu? i have no way of testing if my dizzy is any good and it's driving me nuts.
