Default smoke like a frieght train part 2

So we did a compression test on it and it pass? And we took the head off yesterday and the bottom end look just fine. So we also seen chunks of the head gasket in the bottom end. Me and my friend heared it knock. Do yall think i should replace the head gasket and see what happen or buy a rebuild kit and put it in my spare bottom end. I know this is my money im not cheap just want to do it the right way. So good info guys it was the head gasket

you should have done a leakdown test first before tearing it all apart... at this point if you think you heard a knock, and its a stock motor your best bet is just to rebuild and or upgrade.

How long have you been boosting? Im willing to bet you're slowly blowing your motor. What PSI are you running?

yeah i just got off the phone with my tuner. i told him that i took the head off and seen no damage to the bottom end. and he said that when i take the piston out u will see the ringlands are the problem. But whats funny is that i have had a street tune on the car for a while on 5psi and the motor takes a dump. The car was tune for 10psi

b16 internals arent that great(when boosting), did you upgrade pistons or connecting rods?

no but the funny thing is i have a stroker kit. i just want to leave that car stock turbo. the reason is because school is around the corner and i get side track with studying and work on my car. thats why i dont want to build the motor. I really was gonna put that motor setup in a crx. and have two cars those where my plans. what would u do

p28 converted to obd1? p28's are obd1 . just rebiuld the motor. any stock motor with a turbo is just running on borrowed time no matter how good the tune is. the motor just isnt biuld for it. stock b16 pistons suck for turbo. like you tuner said pop them out and you will see alot of hairline cracks around the piston lands. how did you do a compression test but couldnt do a leak down test? you had everything you you needed already.

O well yeah i did just didnt think about. I was really worry about finding the problem. I think i just gonna put a rod and piston combo in and a bigger turbo. The thing is down time i hate down time. And i will have to get a retune. This was my first build. I do all the bolt on work myself, but sort of scare of the engine work. As far as building etc.

building is very easy bud... its the same as bolt on really, you just need to be able to read feeler gauges, dial bore gauges, and have a set of good specs to go by, its matching the right parts together, and tuning that is the hard part
