so i have herd that these headers hit somewhere underneath the car and the only way to get rid of that is to buy mounts...have anyone experienced or have herd of that as well???

alot of header manufacturers recommend/require you to replace your engine mounts when installing race header.

That's because its not designed to make the most power its a good mid range header.

Yes you will need mounts the skunk2 header has large runners and was designed for big power so you will need mounts to stiffen things up you should be investing in mounts anyway..

what benefit do aftermarket motor mounts give?

 

stiffens up the front end so your not gonna have any engine movement = better traction,braking and smoother shifting plus a much more race feel while driving..

 

IDK man, my car pulled pretty hard on an FA5 with nearly the same mods as me. I have X-SRI, BCRH, P2r TBS and Vibrant catback. He had Injen SRI, S2RH, bored TB and S2 catback. I thought I just got a head start because I'm a better driver and that he'd come around me in the long gearing of 4th but I kept pulling.

 

Negatives or harder mounts , harsh vibrations if you go stiff...the stiffer you go the more vibrations...and its not pleasent revving the engine and getting that kind of response back. At least on a DD and if you like smooth.

 

More vibrations yes, but less energy lost from the motor rocking back and forth in the bay.

 

i just got the mount for the oem cat grinded off and my header doesnt hit anywhere.

 

Good thing I read this before installing mine. Looks like it's time for me to save up for motor mounts.

 

Skunk2 header is a great option we have in our all motor car!!!!

No...or I obviously would have said that. Skunk2 header is a waste unless you have motor work or are SC'd, tuned or untuned.

 

That's bs a superior header is a superior header not too mention its going to sound more aggressive and it will pull harder up top without a SC, cams will be coming soon anyway or i might wait for Go power's SC specific cams and a blower that should cause some havoc..

if you would have simply pm'ed me i would have got you a deal on the skunk2 header and you wouldn't be saying what your saying right now..

 

I got a BCRH for a third the price of a S2RH and it pulled on the S2 up top.

The BC is still priced around $800 and people where paying that way before the skunk2 came out because you bought it for less then the slunk2 means nothing to me idk why you keep bringing it up..

And if it truly was a superior header, it wouldn't have a 2nd version. I'll take BC quality over S2 anyday of the week.

To say his car fell flat on its face is ridiculous the header is designed for much better top end over the BC i find that weird i guess every car is diff but GL with your build and future tuning..
