5 speed '96 - '98 EX harness requires the least amount of modification, you will need to add the IAB wiring and extend a few wires to reach certain sensors.

EX uses the same ECU plugs, i'm assuming you didn't actually end up with a '96 - '98 harness, post pics of the ECU plugs.

dont think you can use gsr harness on 96+civic.

96-98 civic ex/dx/lx harnesses should be the same at the ecu plugs.
and i think you can just cut one wire off the 3 wire and run it like that.
might have to use the plug for the gsr one.and just splice wires.leave that one wire unhooked, if it dont plug in.

are you trying to use your original civic ecu?
was you car automatic before?

Theres your problem, if you use an automatic EX harness the only real advantage is that vtec is prewired, you still have to convert the harness for a 2 wire IACV. 5 speed EX harnesses are already setup for a 2 wire IACV.

my car is originally 5 speed and im going to use a chip ecu so dont need o2 sensor and others, i had bought a jumper harness that fitted on my original harness but the 97 civic ex harness that i just bought the plugs fit except one, the only harness that fits perfect on original sohc ecu and jumper harness its the automatic. if i get the right jumper harness for that ex harness will it work properly?
