What motor oil should I use for the tranny?
I'm going to be swaping out my old civic motor to a new one but I'm not sure what kind of motor oil should I use for the tranny. The motor uses 5w-30 motor oil so should I use that kind of motor oil for the tranny too?
Honda MTF/ATF is about $7/qt in my area, which is pennies more than the other listed names. I'd go with Honda personally, especially since its something that get changed once a year if lucky.

Well, the fluid often recommended for Honda manual transmissions is called... motor oil. The fluid recommended by Honda (at least recently) is Honda MTF. 5W-30 works too though.
I personally use Amsoil Synchromesh. So far, so good. I don't worry about cost too much since it's not like I have to change it every month or anything.

This is from a 1996 Civic manual.
