Civil's CRV

BWR suspension finally came in last weekend and had time to install them. When i first placed the order with BWR they said they had them in stock and could be delivered in 3 days... 5 weeks later i got a phone call that there came in.
First of all, I was not at all happy that it took them this long to come in (Buddy Clubs from AJ's took a week and they ship from Canada), But when i got the box home and started the install i was even more upset to find i would have to modify them to fit. It took a whole 15 mins to the front springs on. I set them as low as they would go and bolted them in. I am pretty pleased with the height (good 3 inch drop)

When i got to the back I ran into a problem. The lower mounting brackets from BWR were not properly measured.

As you can see in the photo the mounts were a good 52mm while the stock mounts were only 45mm.
Lucky for me, I own a grinder

Once installed and back on the ground. I had to raise the rear about 1/2 an inch to level out with the front. The car is going to need a camber kit, the front it sitting around -2 degrees in the front and the back is probably closer to -5 degrees. I already ordered a front/rear kit from my local shop and Ill have them on in a week or so along with a Neuspeed front strut bar.
I managed to bottom out on my first speed bump, although i did take it a little quick and haven't repeated that since. The ride quality is a bit bouncy, and i personally think the front springs are too soft. I have to admit the handling of the car is a night and day difference. It feels like my civic. I can confidently feel the road under me and the back end comes out very quickly even with the stock rear sway bar. This will become even more noticeable once the camber is fixed. Honestly I have no idea why i would need a rear sway bar with this current setup. I was planning on adding an Addco sway bar, but think now ill hold off.
Overall Im very pleased with the drop, the price was decent and the ride quality is nice. Obviously Im not at all pleased with the customer service experience or the need to modify their product right out of the box. The guys are BWR can sit and spin for all i care. Ill never buy anymore BWR parts. In my opinion to anyone considering this type of suspension, call Ksport.
looks good!!
give us further feed back w/ the BWR coilovers, im thinking of getting
one for my temporary set up but im just waiting for further more users...
btw, i like your grille....

Qwrty - The product isnt bad considering the grinding, but if do get a set. Make sure they actually have them in stock.
Honda4life - Funny the tint was the first thing i took off when i got it home. never was a fan of tint. There are a few V's on this board in AZ too, you should organize a track day in phx. =P

I am starting to like CRV would be cool if you painted the trim and the bumpers to match.. Kind of like what they do with the integra/side skirts and trims..
sorry back from the dead
no the EK UCAs do NOT work. i got a pair from my local shop and fully pulled out still had more -camber than stock. I am currently not using any front camber kit. but i know replacing the balljoint style camber kits do work.
the back is Ingalls but washers would have done the same thing. any kit seems to work. Im actually liking the negitive camber in front. Handles very well. Addco and Neuspeed are in the mail as i type this. Hopefully will handle a bit better soon

Off topic. UCA got stuck again last night. This time was driver side. To make matters worse i had to completely remove the entire suspension system UCA LCA swaybar everything to get it to finally pop out from the lip in the wheel well. Ill be back in the garage with a grinder and hammer tomorrow.
Im still waiting for new valves to come in before i do the Vtec head. Everything else is ready. Got a 99 SI cluster for it too^^
Friends at local shop (collective) still bugging me to boost and i have a little extra cash at the moment, might finally cave.
Thanks! I had the same idea. want to repaint it red with the bumpers and trim, Gonna send the wheels off to be powder coated the same color. Need to pick up a wing before it heads off to the bodyshop.
If anyone is interested, I found these from a local shop. My price was 225 for the pair. Will probably pick these up sometime soon.

I ate a pothole in downtown Tucson a few weeks ago. Had to have the car towed home for the 2nd time, so finally got motivated enough to "fix the UCA issue." I had to take a little more meat off than i liked. So far its holding fine but i would like to get another set of front UCA's and redo them. Probably when the other SPC camber kit comes in. (only 1 in stock)

A friend of mine was giving me **** when i starting tearing the suspension apart when i finally got it home to "pop" the UCA out. saying i should just stand on the wheel. For anyone that thinks the UCA will just pop out, ill send you the bill for the new pry bar.

On a brighter note, my Addco sway bar finally came in!
Another quality "exact fit" part for the CRV

My grinding wheel is quickly becoming my weapon of choice.

A real mechanic will "make it fit", i admit the grinding wheel probably wasn't the best tool for this job, but seeing as I'm in the process of moving and my dremel is boxed up I had to improvise.

I reused the stock mounting plate and modified the Addco bushing.

I was really hoping to post pics of my new Nuespeed front strut bar, but sadly rumor is Nuespeed is no longer making them for the CRV and my distributor had to refund my money. Ill get online tomorrow and call around and hope to find one in stock....
To end on a positive note. My B16 head is almost finish. I admit i got a little carried away.
Its a RS ported head, BWR valve springs and titanium retainers, (for the record i do not like nor promote BWR, but i was given a price i couldn't say no to.) for the time being i'll be using a set of GSR cams, and opted to use a B16 intake manifold for the longer runners.
I included a Hondata Intake manifold gasket and picked up a new P72 belt and water pump. B20 head gasket should be here tomorrow. after a parts count the only thing i seem to be missing is a quick compression test (tomorrow if time permits) and a set of LMA.
Guess I'm running out of excuses.

The Valve cover makes me want to sing the theme song from TMNT and shout Cowabunga dude! as i drive by.

Ill get more pic's up once i start the swap, I'm not sure when ill be able to start. I'm trying to close on a new house so my finances/time have been limited as of late.
and as always thanks for the kind words

When you get new upper control arms, instead of cutting up the control arm again....notch a U into the bracket in the fender so the arm can pass by without catching. thats what i did in my V and i havent had a single problem since!
i have bwr on my crv also. rides really nice. also ran into the same issue with their measurements. its like they design things and dont test fit them... but still good quality. hopefully they come out with some front adj, control arms soon...doubt it though

, like it...
