Default The Delslow

So this project kinda started last year, when a friend was hit head on in his built turbo EG. Long story short, bought a CLEAN Delsol and just wanted to swap the motor and sus over.. waited all winter to start and i got laid off. Sooooo... I convinced him to build it the way he wanted.. He has good cash flow, and I had LOTS of time..

fast forward to the bare shell that we had shaved before i started the pics.. lol

He wanted a cage so he ordered a weld in cage from S&W. it came in and it was small.. sorry no pics of that stage.. we mocked it up and you had NOOO clearance to the halo and we just didnt like it.. well that set us back 2 weeks while we built this...

Air over hydraulic, 1 5/8" 2"x1/4 square tubing.

Bent some test bars.. Now for the real fun..

we ordered some more 1 5/8" .134 wall tubing from S&W. and started bending..

we used the main hoop that came with the kit. and bent up some new front bars

we used the rear bars that came with the kit

I bent all the bars and did all the fitting.. We have a notcher but no drill press. lol.... so all fitting was done with a grinder and barrel sander.. My cousin Mike (89efhatch) did all the Tig welding with this little guy

I made the dash fit so I didnt have to mess with the VIN plate. This car will be street legal... Kinda..

Now that everything fits... My favorite part... DIMPLES.

Mike, Texting on the job..

And thats it for now.. Just need to finish the gussets today.. we are waiting for the seats to come in to finish the door bars and harness bar. Seats should be here the 7th, 5 more days.. so there will be some quality time spent with bondo and sand paper for the next few days..

Thanks for looking. Comments are welcome.. will update some more tonight or Sat..

And If anyone is looking for cage or welding service in the Upstate New York area. PM myself or 89efhatch.
