Yeah 10w 30 will give you better protection in warmer weather. Unless you live in Alaska 10w30 should be good year round.

Is 10w-30 fine for our high reving Rs? I thought thinner was better. Don't you get less power with thicker oil?

is there any good/bad differences between 5w-30 and 10w-30 ?
the only thing i heard about 10w-30 is that it loses power . . . or something like that . . .

its true, thicker oil makes the mechanical parts move slower and use more force to get things moving. its a fact.
They are both 30 weight oil after they are warmed up. 5w is just thinner at start up. The larger spead in viscosity the 5w-30 has will cause it to thin out over time or in high stress situations. Not a good thing, but a good synthetic will resist thinning easier.
i was gonna get into ti...but didnt want to start another 10+ page debate about oil....1030 will not cause to lose hp

Ive heard from several people who noticed a decrease in fuel economy after switching to 10-30.
aight kool . . .
thanx alot guys . . . sorry to start this whole oil crap . . .
just wanted to know a little something that's all . . .
so there is not much of a difference between 5W-30 and 10W-30 . . .
it's just that 10W-30 is more thicker than 5W-30 . . .

Not to be a dick but its "lose" not "loose." Yes, true 10w30 will not cause you to lose horsepower.

ANd 10W will be thicker only before the car is warmed up. Anyone notice we worry about the smallest thing around here? Good oil is good oil. 5w-30 should be fine anywhere as should 10w-30. I have used both. nothing noticable either way.
FYI -
The first number is the weight of the oil when cold.
The second number is the weight of the oil when warm.
The reason you want a 10w30 is because the manafacture needs to use less additives in it. Additives are bad because they wear out.
