So i went to a few parts stores around my area, (carquest, shucks, autozone, ect) the upper and lower OEM radiator hoses are close to 20 bucks per hose, whats a good performance hose kit or is OEM best choice?

This will being going into my 91 civic hatch with a b18c1 block.

 

well do you really want to cut corners with your cooling system? ive never heard of "performance" hoses, just get a set from autozone

 

good thing I get discount at carquest and dealerships...lol

 

You should educate yourself a little, as they do make "performance" cooling system hoses. OP look up Samco, or Mishimoto if you want aftermarket hoses. I'm using autozone hoses, with no problems, but the Samco and Mishimoto hoses will last a bit longer, however they are also more expensive to replace when it comes time with as much heat abuse these hoses take.

 

but do they add any performance? arent they just higher quality hoses?

 

They are made of a silicone based material rather than rubber like OE replacements, so they won't deteriorate from Ozone, etc.. plus higher burst strength

 

Silicone hoses are probably not worth the extra dough for your car. It's super easy to inspect and replace rad hoses on EFs.
