Details on ITR Rear Hub Bearings
Although I've seen many posts trying to find bearings for the rear hub, I've seen no true solutions. In my attempts to find a local shop that could cross-reference the bearing, they provided me with a very detailed engineering drawing from NTN. I can send it directly to anyone that wants it. It is a very high pixel count TIFF image and does not translate well into the small sizes that HT allows.
Long story short, NTN does not sell the bearings. I have found an obscure reference to a "Honda Bearing" that sells for $50 each. This makes little sense to me as the NTN hub assembly can be purchased for $106 complete with the two bearings. I've also found a Timken hub assembly selling for $91, again complete with the two bearings.
Any thoughts on these two options? Either seems to make more sense than dealer pricing of the OEM unit for $160 to $200. The bigger questions in my mind are:
1 - Is the NTN brand worth another $15 per side over the Timken?
2 - Does anyone know of a lower cost option regarding separate bearings?
Thanks folks,
Peter

looks like you've done quite a bit or research already, but sorry I really don't have an honest answer which bearing brand is better but Honda does use different brands of bearing even for the same part. BTW I was just in Austin would have hit you up if knew you were around
I would stay away from the Timken wheel hub and bearing assembly, I ordered a set for the same price from an internet website and when I received them they were 4 lug hubs not 5 lug. After the person on the other end assured me that they were 5 lug hubs, it took 4 weeks for them to credit me back the money.
I did some research a while ago and looked everywhere on the internet and locally for replacements and couldnt find a set of 5 lug hubs. All of them were 4 lugs so I ordered some oem ones from the dealer.

When I was looking all I coulf find was the part number for the 4 lug ones and the places I called said that it was in fact the same number when it is not. Thanks for finding it for the benefit of all of us.
If you check the Timken brand it has the same part number for both 4 and 5 lug ones. Thats why they sent you the 4 lug ones.
