Tinting taillights
Do state laws for tinting apply the same for taillights? In Illinois legal tinting is 35%. Do they pull over for any tinting to the taillights? or is there a passable type of tinting.
Decided to tint the taillights instead of buying aftermarket ones. All the aftermarket taillights look too overexaggerated.

As I understand it, it is against the law to tint your headlights or taillights. (at all)
I could be wrong, though. You can always ask your local DMV.
It breaks down to being a safety issue. Your lights need to be visible from * feet away.

how much are you planing on tinting it? i was never a fan of them because they look bad and reduce your braking light visibility --> higher chance of someone rear ending you

I found online that taillight tinting is legal in Illinois as long as the light can be visible from at least 500 feet away. Although the OP might want to double check that since the place I found it on posted it back in 07.
Where i live, tail light tinting IS illegal although many people still do it.
You might just get a warning the first time. I rarely have cops inback of my anyways. Still considering to do it on my car....

I didn't want to read through all of it. It's sooo much easier if the OP just asks the local DMV.

its 100% illegal here too, you cant modify or alter your taillights visibility in any way, if they catch you here your car is towed.
they are even strict on your headlights, lately they have been really cracking down on HID's, the law here says if your car or a model of that release year did not come with HID's then its illegal and you will be ticketed for having them.
