Thought it was a simple map sensor
Hey tech here's the deal I am one ecu code away from getting a four year project done problem is my ecu is throwing code 3. I think no big deal and pick up 3 map sensors at a yard to try and replace it. However all three no change. So could be a) the three sensors I picked up are bad b) it is throwing a map sensor code for another reason. Anyone ever experience this?
Set up:

b18a bottom end

Symptoms:
idle looping from 800-900
bogs out around 1100 but can rev past it and is fine

check the sensor signal wire for .95-1v max at idle. 2.75 volts with the ign on engine off. Anything over 1v at idle indicates a vacuum leak, could be mechanical timing slightly off, sticky valve/or valves, valves adjusted too tight or vacuum leaks.
You didnt get three bad map sensors thats for sure.

im having the same problem. the guy who sold me the motor said they just did the timing belt before they pulled the motor out. could my timing be off one tooth. i already changed the MS but still get code 3. wires look good at the harness. motor is a d16z6 completely stock. thanks.
bumping this thread again because im having the same problem. when i cover the throttle body, the motor doesnt choke out. it keeps running. how do i find a vaccum leak?

check the plug, mines been going on and off on me for awhile, turned out to be the plug... I just depinned the old one and took a plug from the junkyard and repinned it in that plug...
use some carb cleaner and spray it around your hoses, if it idlesthe motor smooth you found your vacuum leak
should the motor shut off as soon as i cover the TB?
